We live in a world that constantly reminds us how much we don't know.
There is always another book to read, another expert to consult, another credential to earn, another person whose opinion seems more authoritative than our own.
I believe in learning. I've spent much of my life doing it.
But there comes a point when we also have to recognize the value of what life itself has taught us.
If you've lived long enough, you've made decisions that worked beautifully and others you would never make again.
You've trusted people who deserved that trust and perhaps a few who didn't.
You've succeeded.
You've failed.
You've recovered.
You've changed.
And every one of those experiences taught you something.
Some lessons became beliefs about who you are and how the world works. Some became patterns you repeat without thinking. Others became discernment—the quiet ability to recognize something before you can fully explain how you know it.
All of that becomes part of the internal system through which you navigate your life.
That doesn't mean everything you've learned is still true or useful. Some beliefs deserve to be questioned. Some old conclusions need to be reconsidered.
But it also means you are not starting from zero.
The woman you are today stands on decades of accumulated experience.
You know what it feels like when something is wrong for you.
You know what happens when you repeatedly ignore your own voice.
You know which environments allow you to flourish and which ones require you to become smaller.
You know more about yourself than you may have been taught to trust.
Outside knowledge can expand us. Wise counsel can support us. Other people can help us see what we cannot see alone.
But their wisdom does not require you to abandon your own.
Perhaps maturity is not reaching the point where you no longer need anyone else's perspective.
Perhaps it is reaching the point where your own perspective finally has a seat at the table.
You have spent a lifetime gathering information about who you are.
Trust yourself enough to listen to some of it.
